“Sit down, here comes the story.”
I arrived at Editora Edebê in July 2014 to work as an Analysis, Support and Customer Service Analyst with the SAGE team (School Service and Management). For almost a year, I worked in this team, which provided technical support to RSB (Rede Salesiana Brasil) schools for the following systems:
Esemtia System, an academic management system hosted on Spanish servers, whose problems required waiting for the six-hour time zone for resolution.
Xpad System, for publishing books in Flipbook format using Flash technology, which presented a number of challenges.
Portal Integrador system, an internal system developed in Brazil to manage systems and users.
During 2015, we developed a project to build a service center, automate processes and measure SLAs. In 2015, I was invited to take over the production of digital materials, which included the publication of teaching materials, children's books and literature specific to the Salesians.
Challenges and solutionsAfter reports indicated the unfeasibility of the Xpad platform, we looked for a robust solution in the short term, opting for the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite. In the medium term, in 2017, we developed the Edebê Publications Ecosystem, integrating several of the publisher's digital solutions.
New Responsibilities and Organizational ChangesIn 2017, I also took on the role of Print Production Supervisor. After several changes of management, we faced internal challenges, including the persecution of Spanish partners. With new management, we adjusted production and began rolling out EdebéOn to different levels of education.
New Digital Department and LayoffsIn September 2022, a digital department was created as part of an employee reduction plan. In November 2023, my colleagues and I were collectively dismissed, opening doors to new opportunities.
The end of one cycle and the beginning of anotherI wish the institution no harm, as I learned from its founders, Giovanni Don Bosco and Maria Domenica Mazzarello, that “Amorevolezza” goes beyond what has been taught, requiring availability, precise criteria and appropriate attitudes.
