The STAR technique, an acronym for Situation, Task, Action and Result, is a methodology widely used in job interviews and performance appraisals.
It was developed to help candidates structure their answers clearly and concisely, demonstrating their skills and experience in a practical and understandable way.
STAR+ dimensions
S = Situation
Objective: Describe the context or scenario in which the situation occurred.
T = Task
Objective: Explain what your responsibility was or what challenge you faced.
A = Action
Objective: Detail the specific actions you took to tackle the task.
R = Result
Objective: Report the results achieved with your actions, preferably with measurable data.
Historical Context
The STAR technique emerged as a response to the needs of recruiters and human resources managers to assess competencies in an objective and structured way. Its exact origin is not well documented, but it gained popularity from the 1980s onwards, in line with the growing focus on behavioral competencies in personnel selection and development processes.
Objective
The main objective of the STAR technique is to provide a framework that allows candidates to articulate their experiences in a logical way, highlighting their ability to solve problems, work as part of a team and achieve results. It is especially useful in behavioral interviews, where the interviewer seeks to understand how the candidate has handled specific situations in the past as an indication of their future performance.

1. IT Instructor Micro Operator
The challenge of permanence and engagement
Situation:
At the start of the project at SENAI-DF, I had the responsibility of teaching basic computer classes to retired teachers from the Federal District in partnership with SINPRO-DF. On the first day of class, I found teachers aged at least 82 and very difficult to handle computers, facing fear and trepidation.
Task:
As well as teaching basic IT, I had to deal with the teachers' digital literacy and overcome their technological fears.
Action:
To resolve this, I asked SENAI-DF's coordination team for permission to dismantle a computer in the next class, allowing the students to see and touch the internal parts of the computer. This helped to reduce fear and increase familiarity with the equipment. I then created a gymkhana between the morning and afternoon classes to make learning practical and engaging.
Result:
The students began to handle computers with more confidence, reporting that they were able to put equipment to use at home. In addition, the gymkhana increased engagement and camaraderie, resulting in a waiting list for three new classes. The Pole in Gama has become an example of success in the Federal District.
